39th Annual General Meeting a great success as we celebrate the achievement of Audrey Marshall BEM retiring after 38 years as a trustee.
We held our 39th AGM on Thursday 7th October 2021 and we were delighted to be able to have a social gathering ‘in real life’. The event was attended by over 40 people, including the Lord Mayor of Hull, Lynn Petrini and their consort, our fabulous patron, Val Wood and our guest of honour, retiring trustee Audrey Marshall BEM. After 38 years on the board, Audrey feels it’s time to step down and enjoy her retirement but of course, we couldn’t let her go quietly. We all enjoyed cake (no surprises there), a lovely buffet provided by one of our fabulous volunteers and Audrey received an Honorary Fellowship from the Chair of Trustees, Sam McGaw. Whilst the occasion was a cause for celebration of all the hard work Audrey has done for the organization, it was tinged with sadness as we lost one of our members, Bill Vokes earlier in the year. As an ex-Treasurer, Bill was an avid supporter of Home-Start and was a cheerful and encouraging presence in the organisation. We will miss Bill dearly and remember him fondly.
Caroline Watson, Scheme Manager said in her speech, “I’ve definitely learnt from the past year that we never know what’s coming next but one thing I am sure of is that the amazing volunteers, staff and trustees will continue to find a way to support the families who need us most. My thanks feels like it is never enough but it is truly heartfelt.”
