Chair of Trustees Report
You may well have heard the saying "it's never dull in Hull" and the busy last year has, for us at Home-Start in Hull, proved that over and over. We have continued with a variety of projects delivered to the highest standards, sensitively meeting the needs of families and focused on improving the life and experience of those families and their children; this all provided through our funders and supporters, with our excellent, dedicated, experienced staff and enthusiastic well-trained volunteers, all of whom deserve our thanks and praise. You will see that statistically, we achieve what we set out to do and qualitatively (and as a reward) we thrive on positive feedback, measuring outcomes where possible. However, at the same time we have been faced with severe challenges. We were facing the loss of most of our funding streams as the end of 2024 came into view.
We worked out a way to "keep going" for a while whilst new grants and contracts were sought in a seemingly bleak funding environment. Happily, the solution came on a number of fronts "just in time" so that continuity has been largely made possible and there are exciting possibilities ahead. Do ask us about our plans and hopes.
No, it’s never dull for us in Hull. I must record my personal thanks to the other Trustees, all the staff and volunteers for their dedication and continuing to make such a difference for so many in our community.
Sam McGaw,
Chair of Trustees
